Artist Statement
I want to create work that is gentle and kind. My hope for my work is that it entrances my audience to sit with themselves and become aware of moments slipping through time. I believe the moments we don’t pay attention to are the moments that have the potential to change our perception of the world and of ourselves.
When I sit down to create, I can mold limitless potential and material into new contemplative experiences. I find my inspiration through romanticized lived-memories, emotions, and experiences. I try to convey emotions that I have felt or that I hope to feel in the future. I am particularly interested in what lies just beyond my fingertips out of reach behind the veil of consciousness and daydreams.
My process means finding myself in the quiet. It has become a method of self-care and a time to check in with my own mental health needs. For so long I allowed myself to be influenced by negative encounters, traumas, and emotions. My art process has been gently teaching myself how to let go of control and emotions that no longer serve me. Unlearning conditional attachments to the world and judgements placed upon me by outside factors and learned judgmental behaviors.
My art process has allowed me to explore my imagination as a way of learning to love myself and the world around me. I search for my own realm of peace through creation as I nurture consciousness as a garden in full bloom. My work encompasses all that I have come to learn about myself and my mental health journey.
I am documenting the little moments in which I find myself conscious and imaginary.
